Sweethearts of the South
Varsity Prancers & JV Sweethearts

The Sweethearts of the South is a dance organization consisting of the Pearland High School Varsity Prancers and JV Sweethearts. The Sweethearts of the South were established in 1973 and recently re-established their JV program in 2025. The Sweethearts of the South perform at athletic events, compete in dance competitions, and put on a Spring Show.
Director

Ms. Lopez attended and graduated from Pearland High School, where she was a Prancer, Lyrical, and Kick Company member. After high school, Ms. Lopez attended Texas State University, where she was a member of the Texas State University Strutters. Ms. Lopez graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. Ms. Lopez was previously the Director of the Conroe High School Golden Girls from 2018-2021 before being named the Director of the Pearland High School Prancers in 2022.

Ms. Arnold went to Clear Creek High School where she was a 4 year member of the Cavalier drill team. While there, she was a 4 year member of jazz company and served as Junior Lieutenant and Captain during her junior and senior years. After high school, she earned her B.S in Educational Advocacy from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Throughout her time in college, she was a member of the UMHB Dance Team, serving as captain during her final two years and leading her team to a national championship title in Division 3 pom. Following graduation, Ms. Arnold joined the Disney College Program where she performed as a character performer at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL.
